Marking October 7th: A Community Gathering of Reflection and Awareness

This Sunday, October 12, 2025, the Jewish Federation of Western Connecticut hosted a special screening of “October 8”— a powerful documentary exploring the surge of antisemitism that followed the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.

The film examines how antisemitic narratives spread across college campuses, social media, and public spaces, while uncovering Hamas’s long-standing efforts to build influence in the U.S., amplified by online campaigns linked to China and Russia.

Following the screening, Dr. Hadar Lubin — psychiatrist, trauma specialist, and former co-director of the Post Traumatic Stress Center in New Haven — led a thoughtful discussion that encouraged reflection, understanding, and action against rising hate.

Guests also gathered in the Sukkah afterward for light snacks and community conversation, continuing the dialogue about unity, resilience, and the importance of education in confronting antisemitism.

The event was free to attend and offered a meaningful opportunity for our community to come together, remember, and learn.
