Amazon lifts restrictions on shipments to Israel

Online retail giant Amazon.com has fully resumed operations in Israel, lifting a suspension on shipments to addresses in the Jewish state imposed during the 12-day war between Iran and Israel.

In the middle of the war, Amazon delisted all items that had previously been marked as shipping to Israel, leaving Israeli shoppers — and those abroad — looking to place orders for friends and loved ones in Israel unable to make purchases.

The retailer also added a temporary message for users in Israel, announcing the service suspension.

“Due to local restrictions beyond our control, we cannot accept new orders or provide delivery to your area at this time,” the message read. “We will resume services as soon as conditions allow.”

On Tuesday, however, Amazon began resuming operations in Israel, gradually restoring the “ships to Israel” label to merchandise and shipping orders placed before the service suspension.

Amazon announced Tuesday that it has also resumed its free shipping deal for orders totaling over $49 with qualifying items.
