The purpose of the grant funding is to promote healthy eating by purchasing fresh fruit to be included in every meal. Approximately 30% of the fruit is donated. Fresh Fruit for Takeout Hot Meals - Every day approximately 100 people come to our door for a hot takeout meal. Last year they served 55,000 meals.

Dorothy Day is designed to be a temporary base that both provides guests with critical daily resources (bed, shower, and laundry service) and incentives them to take the necessary steps to get back on their feet and secure permanent housing and employment.
