B’nai Israel of Southbury is a warm, welcoming, and diverse congregation—one of the region’s most prominent yet intimate Jewish houses of worship. For more than a 150 years, our community has carried forward a rich tradition of Jewish life while embracing innovation, inclusivity, and the evolving needs of modern families.  We honor our past with gratitude and look toward the future with enthusiasm and hope.

A Community Rooted in Tradition, Growing Toward Tomorrow

Our congregation takes great pride in its inspiring music, educational excellence, and strong sense of community. What truly sets B’nai Israel apart is the spirit that fills our sanctuary and classrooms: a blend of heartfelt worship, thoughtful learning, and genuine connection.

Our spiritual leadership is deeply committed to fostering a Judaism that is accessible, meaningful, and relevant. We welcome traditional families, single‑parent households, interfaith families, LGBTQ+ individuals, couples, and families, and all who seek a Jewish home.  At B’nai Israel, every individual is valued, every story matters, and every generation finds its place.

A Campus Like No Other

Nestled in northwestern New Haven County, B’nai Israel sits on a beautiful 17‑acre campus—one of the largest community, cultural, spiritual, and educational centers of its kind in the region. Our grounds offer space for worship, learning, celebration, and reflection, creating an environment where Jewish life can flourish in all its forms.

Our campus at 444 Main Street North in Southbury, CT is more than a location—it is a gathering place, a sanctuary, and a home.

A Shared Home for Jewish Life in Northwestern Connecticut

We are proud to share our campus with our partner organization, The Federation: Jewish Communities of Northwestern CT, strengthening our role as a hub for Jewish engagement across the region. Together, we serve families from a wide radius of Connecticut towns, including:

Bethany, Bethlehem, Brookfield, Litchfield, Middlebury, New Hartford, Newtown, Oxford, Roxbury, Sandy Hook, Southbury, Washington, Waterbury, Watertown, Woodbury, and many other surrounding communities.

As a congregation affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism, B’nai Israel is also active in local Jewish and interfaith initiatives, working to build bridges, foster understanding, and support the broader community.

Your Home, Now and Always

Whether you are new to the area, rediscovering your roots, or seeking a deeper connection to Jewish life, B’nai Israel welcomes you with open arms. Our campus is a place to pray, learn, celebrate, and grow—together.

Now, as always, B’nai Israel is your home.
