Summary of 2023-2024 Annual Campaign Kickoff Event

The Board of The Jewish Federation of Western Connecticut Board of Trustees would like to thank all of our community members who attended the Annual Campaign Kickoff Breakfast on Sunday, September 10, 2023.  The purpose of The Campaign Kickoff program is held at the beginning of the year-long effort to raise the money necessary for our Federation to fulfill its mission.  This year our mission is to bring awareness to the issue of “food Insecurity” which not only affects our community it is in every community statewide and country wide.

Our program began with a prayer by Rabbi Mark Cohn of Temple Sholom of New Milford.  The Federation’s Board President Pauline Zimmerman kickoff the campaign along with a lineup of several board members.  The program finished with honoring our Sylvia & Burton Albert Habonim Awardees.

Our guest speaker Alan Rosenstock, Director of Tomche Shabbos of Rockland County spoke about his experience with assisting his community members combating hunger and poverty.  Alan’s involvement also assists his community members who are struggling financially. Tomche Shabbos provides food packages, humanitarian grants and job training, as well as other support through various programs designed to offer emergency intervention and the hope for a better tomorrow.
