The Foundation provides monies from a variety of funds for a wide range of purposes.
Our grant application guidelines state what is required for funds from unrestricted monies.
For grant requests below $2,500, applicants should use the Short Form. For requests above $2,500, the Foundation requires an introductory letter. If approved for further review, applicants are asked to use the Long Form. Note that approval for further review does not constitute grant approval.
Here is a sample of grants made by the Foundation in fiscal year 2007:
$50,000 to the Jewish Agency to repair and rebuild emergency shelters in the Afula-Gilboa region of Israel
$28,600 to three schools in the community (the Audrey & Bill Walzer Alef-Bet, B’nai Israel, and Yeshiva Katana) to strengthen Jewish education
$8,000 to B’nai Israel and Congregation Beth El to underwrite scholarships for Jewish education
$6,000 to two students for college education scholarships
$13,500 to 31 children for camp scholarships
Over $30,000 to Jews in need in the greater Waterbury community
Over $3,000 to various Holocaust-related educational programs
